Complete Training Solutions have recently launched a new Waterside Safety Awareness Course that equips participants with crucial knowledge of rescue techniques, rescue equipment, waterside hazards, water behaviour and danger signs.

On average there are between 450-600 drowning fatalities in the UK every year. This course is designed to provide people with the knowledge to enable them to act efficiently within hazardous situations in or around water. The course is split into theoretical and practical tasks which include venturing out into Collingwood Docks to partake in life-saving rescue techniques. Our trainers can tailor the course to suit your needs and ensure that you are getting the most out of the experience.

Upon the launch of this new CTS course, youth development charity, Positive Futures, joined us on Collingwood Dock to take part in the training day.

Positive Futures work with children, young people, and families across the Liverpool City Region, supporting and helping them achieve their full potential. One of the ways they do this is by taking young people on enriching trips and days out to help them build essential life skills. The course should open doors for the Positive Futures team and provide them with the skills they need to act safely within situations and activities around water, particularly when the children are involved.

Positive Futures Youth Development Workers, Gary Barlow and Tom Coates said that they were impressed with the quality of training provided by CTS: “The course will help us to identify risks and react to incidents in and around water when on activities with young people.”

“I feel more confident in planning waterside trips with our young people after this.”

The course is open to people from all backgrounds and walks of life, aiming to open opportunities for individuals and organisations alike. We are very proud to now have the resources and the facilities to offer this to our customers. Chief Operating Officer at Complete Training Solutions, Danielle Kershaw says:

“We are pleased to have added Waterside Safety Awareness to the Complete Training Solutions in-house training portfolio. Feedback from our clients and partners suggested that there was a significant increase in requirement for waterside safety knowledge for those working in close proximity of water. We aim to provide sufficient knowledge so that our trainees can be aware of the hazards within an environment and have a strong understanding of water self-rescue techniques. Our training can be delivered over half a day or a full day and is tailored specifically to the needs of our customers – every course is tailored and bespoke.”

The Waterside Safety Awareness training course equips trainees with the skills to deal with incidents in all waters – lakes, canals, rivers, and the sea. Whilst it is designed to be suitable for every individual and organisation, the course would be particularly useful for those working in construction, civil engineering, schools, hospitality, and areas of work that take place near water.
