CSCS Card Test

The CSCS Card Test is for any delegate who has taken the CITB Health & Safety Awareness course and needs to complete the exam to apply for their card. Delegates can take their test for a Green Card, Blue Card or Gold Card.

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme is an accreditation which allows workers to display their knowledge and skill in a construction environment and have the ability to work on a construction site. It is not mandatory by law to own a CSCS card, however, many employers and contractors require all site staff to have a valid CSCS card. The qualifications you’ll need to receive your CSCS card will teach you worker site safety and other more complex skills. It is the most widely accepted form of proof of on site proficiency.

Green CSCS Card

The CSCS green card is the most basic card for every construction worker. It is also called the CSCS card labourer. To apply for the labourer card you must have completed the aforementioned CITB Health and safety training within the last two years.

Blue CSCS card

The blue CSCS card or ‘skilled worker card’ is the second card in the hierarchy above the green ‘labourer card’. To qualify for the blue CSCS you will need a construction related NVQ or SVQ level 2.

Gold CSCS Card

The Gold CSCS card is available for supervisor and technical occupations with a valid Construction Related Supervisory/Technical NVQ or SVQ Level 3 or 4.

No. The fee paid to CTS is for the examination.

How much is a CSCS card?

A CSCS card costs £36. After completing and passing your CITB CSCS Exam with CTS, you can apply on the CSCS Website for a card.

There are many types of different CSCS card but most last for 5 years. To renew the card you will have to retake the CITB to refresh your skills. Then you can apply for a renewal of your CSCS card using the same card application service as you did when first applying.

This test is mandatory to become a worker on a construction site.

If you wish to advance up to a managerial or supervisory role we advise you to sit the CITB Site Manager Supervisor Training Scheme or the CITB Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme, both of which are available at Complete Training Solutions.
