Earlier this week, the Liverpool Exhibition Centre housed the annual Liverpool City Region Skills Show. The annual event welcomes people of all ages to come and learn about different industries, pathways, and have some fun. The event was jam-packed with exhibitors, from local businesses to colleges.
Young people from schools across the region came to the event looking to discover how their interests could fit into a future career. This year, the team from Complete Training Solutions (CTS) headed down to the exhibition centre to showcase what a career in the renewables industry could look like.
Armed with a set-up that replicated a rig you would find on a wind turbine, Mike Warburton – GWO Instructor, talked with attendees and showed them the ropes. Using his wealth of industry knowledge, Mike shared his experiences and offered advice to anyone considering embarking on a career in the renewables industry. Students even took part in some friendly competition where they tried to hoist a rescue dummy off the floor using rope access equipment.
The event was also the perfect opportunity for CTS to meet with local employers and discuss the possibility of future collaborations. CTS has always championed collaboration between businesses and employers. They actively seek new ways to grow their wealth of employer connections in the hopes of helping more people into a career in renewables.
Danielle Kershaw, Head of Renewables at CTS, said: “It was a pleasure to be a part of such a valuable event for our region. The wind industry is growing rapidly and there has historically been little information available to young people about careers in this industry – something we want to change.” Danielle said.
Danielle continued: “Exhibiting at the Skills Show is a step in the right direction for us to engage with more young people and educate them on the industry.”
CTS recently launched a first-of-its-kind Green Energy Skills Bootcamp across the Liverpool City Region. The Skills Bootcamp is open to anyone over the age of 19 and is fully funded under the Department for Education’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee.
