In a matter of weeks our world changed. From multi-million pound companies to sole traders, young and old, male and female, COVID-19 knows no boundaries. And whilst many of us can take the steps required to self-shield, self-isolate or stay at home, there is one group within our community who simply do not have this opportunity due to not having a home to call their own. This is why places such as The Whitechapel Centre are so vitally important, as they support thousands of individuals experiencing homelessness every year.
Early on during this outbreak, The Whitechapel Centre adjusted their services to keep everyone safe and well. They secured Aparthotel accommodation and moved all rough sleepers indoors. These steps enabled them to continue their incredible work, with staff being available onsite 24/7 to support their clients with the likes of food parcels, intensive support and reassurance.
The team at Complete Training Solutions have been supporting The Whitechapel Centre for over 12 months now, fundraising and supporting with donations and volunteering. The team believes passionately in the work that the centre does, which literally saves lives. So they were delighted to recently donate £940.93 to this cause. The funds will help to support them in continuing their work with some of the most vulnerable in our society.
CEO of Complete Training Solutions Tom Powell said;
“We have a strong commitment to giving back and supporting our local community here at Complete Training Solutions, and now more than ever, is it important that we act to support others and the community where we work.
“Our team had been fundraising for The Whitechapel Centre ahead of the lockdown, and we felt it was important to pass along those funds sooner rather than later, to help them to help others.”
In 2018, results published by their parent company, PTE Group, reported that CTS had a Social Value which amounted to £7,972,068. This was quantified from analysing the volume of individuals they delivered training to and progressions. They also contributed to a Group wide charitable giving value of £52,030.67. This collective figure was made up of donations to 11 charities across the group of education and training specialists. Tom went on to say;
“We had some really exciting plans this year to raise more money for charity and support them through the likes of free training places and volunteering activities. Unfortunately, many of our plans have been put on pause. However, we still plan to do everything we can during the latter months of the year to support those who need it the most.”
