If you’re looking to start or develop your career in the renewable and wind energy industry and gain a Global Wind Organisation accreditation, then look no further! The GWO Working at Height (inc. Refresher) course provides each participant with awareness through theoretical and practical training. It is a requirement that offshore workers hold a valid, in date Working at Height & Rescue certificate. This certificate can be refreshed every 2 years by completing the Working at Height Refresher course.

GWO Manual Handling provides an awareness of positive manual handling behaviour. Delegates will learn to performance manual handling activities in a safe manner in the wind industry. The course includes a combination of theoretical and practical training.

A GWO Manual Handling training course includes;

  • Overview of relevant legislation, standards & guidance
  • Incident and injury reporting
  • Outline of Manual Handling
  • Spinal and shoulder anatomy and injuries associated with Manual Handling
  • Equipment pre and post use checks, including certification of equipment
  • Risk assessments and control measures
  • Planning of operations
  • Safe lifting techniques

Delegates will complete a practical and written multiple choice assessment.

You should complete the rest of your GWO basic safety training:

  • GWO First Aid
  • GWO Manual Handling
  • GWO Basic Fire Awareness
  • GWO Sea Survival

If you want a career in offshore rope access, then you should complete your IRATA Rope Access certificate.

Delegates will receive a GWO Manual Handling certificate upon successful completion of a course.
