The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety & Risk Management course is designed for for managers, supervisors and employee representatives with a responsibility for fire safety in the workplace and those persons wishing to start a career in fire safety or occupational safety and health.
What is covered in the course?
This course aims to give delegates an in-depth knowledge of fire health and safety management and covers principles such as the legal requirements of fire safety, fire and explosion, fire causes and prevention, fire protection in buildings and safeguarding people in the event of fire.
After successfully completing ther course, delegates will be able to qualified to carry out fire risk assessments in low risk workplaces.
They will be able to: Identify key requirements for health and safety management systems.
Identify methods which could be used to improve the health and safety culture of an organisation.
Identify the main requirements for fire safety and risk management.
Outline and differentiate between active (pro-active) monitoring procedures.
Understand and explain the processes behind incident and accident investigation, recording and reporting.
Outline the key features of a fire safety policy.
Understand the principals of fire and explosion processes.
Outline methods of fire prevention and protection within buildings and the safety of people.
Outline fire training requirements.
Prepare management reports on health and safety improvements.
What assessments are there?
Delegates will complete written assessments and a practical assignment involving a 3 hour examination undertaken in the candidates own workplace within 14 days of the examination.
Are there any entry requirements?
Delegates are required to bring a valid in-date photo ID e.g. driving license or passport

This qualification meets academic requirements for Technical Membership (TechIOSH) of IOSH and Associate Membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) It enables you to apply for Technician Membership of the Institute of Fire Prevention Officers (IFPO) and it also meets the academic requirements for Associate Membership (AMIFPO). Persons with the relevant skills and experience may also apply to join the IFPO Fire Risk Assessors Register.
Certificates are issued by NEBOSH nd may take up to 12 weeks for delivery upon successful completion of the course.
