Who is the course suitable for?
This course is designed for candidates who have a valid, in-date Level 2 IRATA certificate and are looking to progress to a Level 3 technician. Delegates must have over 1000 logged hours of rope access work.

What is covered in the course?
A Level 3 rope access technician shall:

  • be capable of site supervision for rope access work projects.
  • be conversant with relevant work techniques and legislation.
  • be able to demonstrate all the skills and knowledge required of Levels 1 and 2.
  • have a comprehensive knowledge of the advance rescue techniques.
  • hold an appropriate current first aid certificate, to show that suitable emergency first aid training has been undertaken.
  • have a knowledge of the IRATA Training, Assessment and Certification Scheme.
  • be familiar with the contents of the IRATA ICOP.

What assessments are there?
The assessment takes place on the final day of the course. An external examiner will assess you on all aspects which you covered earlier in the week .

Are there any entry requirements?
You need to be at least 18 years of age at the start of the course and bring with you a passport photo.
You must be physically fit and unaffected by any disability or medical condition that may prevent you from working safely. You need to ensure that you have an adequate level of fitness, are physically able to perform the tasks expected in terms of strength, agility and coordination, and are able to withstand the stresses of the working (training) environment, such as heat, cold, and other inclement weather.
You are required to certify that you are fit to attend the course. The minimum requirement is a self-certification statement (CTS Ltd Medical Assessment Form F-026).

What do you need to bring?
Delegates are required to bring their IRATA Logbook in order to demonstrate they have logged enough working hours to sit the Level 3 course.
Delegates are required to bring work boots and clothing that is appropriate for climbing.
Delegates will also need to bring a valid in-date photo ID. e.g. driving licence or passport.
